Gearing Up For the Weekend

Some things to think about before a weekend:
1) Who may be coming over during the weekend. Clean your place up. It's the weekend. Who knows if your place is the post bar place to be or who will come by.
2) Events. For me, Melissa is taking me to see Guster in Newport, RI on Saturday night. So other than having the pressure of her having front row tickets (gotta get to know the songs more) all I have to worry about is driving. I guess it sometimes pays off for others when you're the one with the new vehicle.
3) Food. Let's face it. It's a necessity. And it's summer. And the grill is fixed. Fire it up!
4) Let go all stress. The weekend is all about the flow and going with it. I used to try and schedule my weekend. Not going to happen anymore. I'll have some general things to do or want to do. But I'm not holding myself to it.

So go out and enjoy the weekend! And remember what that great philosopher Bobby McFerrin once said...

Don't worry, be happy!!

The Molloy Twins

Last night at 11:18 and 11:19 PM respectively, Jack Reilly and Maya Elizabeth Molloy were born at Maine Medical Center. The solstice babies arrived in the world weighing 5 pounds and 9 ounces (Jack) and 5 pounds and 12 ounces (Maya). Both mom and dad are doing well and are in complete awe of their new doubles team or as Peter was hoping, a defensive pairing. Congrats to the Molloy's and their respective families! Please leave comments below for the new parents!

Merry/Happy Solstice

The longest day of the year is TODAY!! That means we have the most light. Not that the day somehow turns into a 25 hour day. It is the official beginning of summer. Enjoy the day. Sunset is late, late, late. Sunrise was early, early, early. So when you people get out of cubicle worlds that you are in don't forget you can chill in the daylight until late. Get outside bitches!!

THE Grand Slam Tournament - Wimbledon

If you are a tennis professional on the tour then this is the one tournament you want to win. Roger Federer (pictured), the world's #1 player, is the person to beat. If you get a chance to watch him play it's pure artistry. A brilliant and fluid player of the game. All action on ESPN2, The Duece.

When you least expect it

Things will just happen. There is no rhyme or reason for it. They just happen. Like driving down a multiple traffic light road and they all turn green just for you. When normally they seem to change to red right before you pull up through the light. If you go through the red light you get pulled over. If you don't you are safe but still sitting at the red light cursing the slow driver in front of you. But enough with analogies. As some of you faithful readers have known I've recently made the decision to specifically target the Boston job market. Partly out of necessity but also out of growing frustrations with the Portland market. (You can read my rant here.) But now my professional priorities have shifted far enough that returning to Boston is my next correct move. And also my personal life has taken that happy unexpected road the past few days. All my life I've been looking for that balance between being able to have a great professional career path and a personal life where both are fruitful and happy. Steps are in the works to hopefully make my thoughts come true. The personal life section has the most promise and even includes some sugar cookies. With the confidence in that part of my life it has appeared to boil over into my professional life. Although being semi-retired has agreed with me, I feel like I have too much to offer and too much that I personally want to accomplish to sit on my ass too long.

I promise a more loose and entertaining blog tomorrow. Hopefully a lovely story about my ultimate frisbee game tonight that I laid out to grab the game winner. Or maybe a long backhand pass that curved nicely into my long distance wide receiver Rubino....
